Digital Printing

Known for their unprecedented ease of installation and use, the Uni-Dyne systems are ideal for digital printing applications and can give you great adhesion while eliminating delamination problems.

Great Ink, Primer, and Secondary Coating and Laminating Adhesion

The Corotec Uni-Dyne line of surface treating solutions for digital printing applications includes in-line corona treaters as well as sheet treating systems. Known for their unprecedented ease of installation and use, the Uni-Dyne systems are ideal for digital printing applications and can give you great adhesion while eliminating delamination problems.

We start by analyzing your specific printing application and other requirements such as installation, operator access, and accessibility for routine maintenance. Then we design, build and test a system that’s made just for you. That’s the difference between Corotec and other ‘off-the-shelf’ surface treatment suppliers.

Digital Printing Surface Treatment Challenges

Digital printing technology presents a number of technical challenges that must be addressed in order to consistently produce a good quality end product. Among these is the more frequent need to print on materials and substrates that must be primed or optimized prior to being run on digital printing equipment.

Plastic substrates typically cannot be printed without prior surface priming or optimization because electro-photographic inks will not wet out or adhere properly to the unmodified surface. The same holds true for the inks commonly used with inkjet printing technology. In addition, the primer itself will not wet out and adhere properly to the substrate surface unless the substrate surface is first treated in some manner prior to application of the primer.

It is also a relatively common practice to varnish coat or apply a film laminate over the printed surface in order to protect it. However, poor varnish adhesion or film de-lamination can result if the printed surface is not treated prior to the application of these protective finishes.

Corona discharge surface treating is an effective solution for all of these problems and has been in use for decades by wide-web processors and converters. Today it is rare to find an extruder, laminator, or wide-web printing press that does not employ one or more corona treaters in-line.
