Ozone Generators and Eliminators

LC Series Ozone Generators

The LC Series Ozone Generators are very flexible and can quickly integrate into your production processes. These mobile systems produce ozone which can be used as a treatment in extrusion coating and laminating applications.

It’s a simple and convenient generator to use. All you have to do is exhaust ozone from a distribution tube at the lamination or coating tip merging point, and you’re done.

Ozone treatment is a great way to make your bond stronger. You don’t have to use bonding agents, adhesives, solvents, or primers. Using this straightforward solution, you can increase your production speeds and achieve better results with less effort.

How ozone generators work

Ozone generators work by using a high voltage to ionize oxygen molecules in the air, which then creates ozone. Ozone is a gas made up of three oxygen atoms (O₃). It’s sometimes called “activated oxygen”.  Oxidation occurs when electrons are given up through this conversion process and given the combining capacity of the corresponding element, oxidation occurs. This results in a highly oxidating reaction.  Ozone is among the most powerful known oxidants.

The LC Series Ozone Generator is perfect for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Pre-treatment in extrusion coating and laminating
  • Improving the bond between incompatible materials
  • Increasing production speed
  • Reducing the need for bonding agents, adhesives, solvents, or primers.

Which Ozone Generator Is Right for You?

When you’re looking for an ozone generator, it’s important to choose one that is the right size and has the right ozone output for your needs.

You’ll also want to make sure that the ozone generator you choose can be used with the materials you’re working with.

Finally, consider how easy the ozone generator is to use. Some generators require special training to use, while others are as simple as spraying ozone at the lamination or coating tip.

Corotec’s Ozone Generator System

Our ozone generator is a mobile system that you can move around. The system is designed to be safe and reliable. This includes air flow and water pressure switches that will prevent the machine from starting if it does not have proper cooling. This device offers quiet operation at low voltage levels, making it more secure and reliable.  Output is automatically controlled via a closed loop system as the process velocities are changed.  All is controlled through a touch screen display.

Think about this for a moment.

Each LC Series, Ozone Generator system, includes several key components:

  • The fresh air supply and control provision will keep the air clean.
  • The closed-loop recirculating cooling system will keep the air cool.
  • The high-frequency power supply will provide energy for the ozone reactor chamber.
  • The proprietary ozone reactor chamber will create ozone gas.
  • The applicator assembly will spread the ozone gas throughout the room.
  • An optional air dryer can be used to further reduce moisture content in the air stream resulting in a more effective oxidation process.
  • An option Ozone monitor is also available for monitoring ozone output at all times.

With this tried and tested power supply, you can be sure that your ozone generator will be up to the task of increasing your production speeds.

How does the LC Series Ozone Generator function?

The LC Series Ozone Generator works by using a high-frequency, solid state power supply to create ozone. This ozone is then used as a pre-treatment in extrusion coating and laminating applications. Using ozone to treat the web can often achieve doubling or tripling of bond strengths without resorting to bonding agents, adhesives, solvents, or primers.

The power supply ozone output can be adjusted automatically or manually for perfect results. After the system is adapted to meet the production requirements, the unit will maintain its output to produce consistent ozone generation given the extrusion line speeds.

The success of ozone treatment is due to the way ozone molecules react. When they come into contact with a molten extrudate, the ozone molecules link up with the polymer chains on the surface of the extrudate. This makes the character much more receptive to chemical bonds during coating or laminating.

Application Assistance Program

The Ozone Application Assistance Program provides full-sized production trial units for testing and evaluation on your production line. The program is designed to show ozone technology’s process and economic advantages in various extrusion coating and laminating applications.

If you use our equipment as other customers have, you will see an increase in the quality of your products and how fast they are made. Some materials that usually don’t work well together can be made to bond with the help of ozone treatment.
